About Us - History of Company

Our business began in a garage, where James Coulter made panels and storage boxes for his personal use. The boxes were durably built, since they were used outdoors on painting trips to many different locations.

The boxes were seen by James' fellow students in art classes, leading to, "Can you make me one"? The boxes and panels were later made available for the students of the Scottsdale Art School and the company began to grow.

The development of the "Plein-Air" system gave us another quality product to offer to the art community. Professional artists, teachers and students from coast to coast and across the globe now use this "Plein-Air" system.

The "Plein Air" painting system was designed by a working Plein Air artist and is an alternative to the pochade box. It integrates its slight weight with French easel features while holding your panel at eye level so that you can easily look back and forth from your subject matter to your painting.
